How dress like Bretman Rock - How to cut a shirt yourself to get his look

We all love Hawaii's own Bretman Rock and we especially love his style. He's a style icon! When we saw these photos of Bretman wearing a Lilac cut up shirt, we were like "omg he would look amazing in Twisted Cuts, Is this one of pieces?" Spoiler alert, it wasn't. We know exactly what we make and what's not ours. So we made a little joke of the situation, trying to get him to notice us. We reposted a video of his with the caption that jokingly said "Is Bretman wearing Twisted Cuts...?". Turns out he saw it after all and commented where it was actually from.

We did some investigating, the shirt he was wearing is by a Australian company that doesn't specialize in custom cut clothing. The shirt is mass produced and costs $450. I don't know about you guys but that's a little outside of our budget and a way outside of our customer price point. For a fraction of the cost you can dress in Bretmans style.

So for the first time ever we're going to TEACH you how to do it yourself and share some of our trade secrets with you as well. Twisted Cuts has been doing this for over 10 years and we'd like to say we perfected the techniecs over the years. Follow along using the steps below and let us know how it turns out!

  1. Get yourself a lilac men's basic t-shirt. You can get them on Amazon here for $7.00

  2. Draft the shirt pattern and size it to your body and cut out.

  3. Make sure you turn the shirt inside out. Pin and sew the seams together. And you'll be left with a blank canvas of a shirt that looks like a tank top.

  4. Turn right side out, fold in half. Make cuts all the way down the front of the shirt. Starting big and making them smaller as you go.

  5. Stretch the cut strips so that they curl into each other

  6. Weave the strips from the top down. You do this by looping one string over and through the next one. Continue doing that until you reach the bottom of the shirt and then tie a knot at the end.

  7. Start another layer of twisting by following the same steps previously.

  8. Give the shirt one last stretch and the twisted strings will form together,

  9. That's it! The last step is to style it with a killer outfit and tag us when you try this.

If you don't want to go through all these steps or you're too nervous about trying it for yourself you can get one made by Twisted Cuts. Click the link to buy!
